Cranbrook Football Lunch

Posted: 24 March, 2018

Cranbrook Old Boys,

On behalf of the Cranbrook Football Committee (CFC), I welcome you to the new football season at Cranbrook.

The CFC is a hard working group of parents who dedicate themselves to supporting the students participating in Cranbrook Football. Over the last 18 months, Colin Flynn has been the President of this committee, he has worked extremely hard on improving the Football program, introducing fantastic initiatives such as the Cranbrook football lunch and an amazing end of year presentation evening. Colin was also instrumental in improving the standings of Cranbrook football across the school. Unfortunately, work commitments have meant that Colin is no longer able to continue on the Cranbrook Football Committee. On behalf of all Cranbrook football students and parents, we would like to thank Colin for his outstanding efforts and wish him all the best for the future.

On May 11th we are hosting this year’s annual Cranbrook Football lunch (see attached invitation) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Double Bay .  Incredibly, we have secured new Socceroo coach, Graham Arnold as guest speaker along with Danny Townsend, CEO of Sydney FC and the MC for the day is Stephanie Brantz.  Last years’ lunch was a huge success and we are sure it will be a great afternoon once again, get a table with friends and colleagues and enjoy the day.  As added incentive, following the lunch the 1st and 2nd XI’s take on Knox at Hensley Athletic Field in Pagewood.  The school has arranged buses to transport lunch attendees from Double Bay to the game so we can cheer the boys on. Please use the page linked to your ticket purchase to book a seat on the bus.

We are currently collecting auction items or activities for the lunch, if anyone has anything or can assist, please contact Kath Conrad on: 0423 590 443, If you are unable to attend the Cranbrook Football Lunch or provide an auction item, you may wish to make a donation via this link Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The internal trials got underway at Dangar last Saturday on a hot day that saw boys across all years showcase their skills.  The famous Cranbrook Football canteen opened for the first time as well last Saturday with coffee, bacon and egg rolls and sausages living up to all the boys and parents expectations.  The canteen raises money to support the boys and the football program.  Over the years we have been able to provide many things like the scoreboard at Dangar, speed gates for training, shin guards for students, tour support and much more. Please email Brigitte Fudge,, if you are able to volunteer for the canteen.  Even this weekend we could do with a few extra at the Yr10 Blitz and internal trials.  Your support will be greatly appreciated!

The boys have been training hard for several months and the 1st XI kicked off their season with a great 4-0 win against St Joseph’s College last Wednesday in the CIS Cup.  Round 3 of the CIS Cup will be played on Wednesday 28th March V St Pius College at 4pm.  All other teams continue to train and trial this week with A teams competing in the CAS Blitz at various venues with Cranbrook hosting the Year 10 competition. This year is certainly shaping up to be an exciting season for all football players.

Looking forward to seeing you on the side line soon!

Kind Regards,

Shane Mattiske

(Acting President)
