To commemorate 90 years since its inauguration, the OCA held a cocktail party in the Governor’s Ballroom and terrace on November 12, 2011. It was intended to be a less formal occasion, which proved to be a successful format as it allowed for freer mixing for those attending, plus the fact that combined with a balmy evening, it attracted a larger group of younger Old Cranbrookians.
However, as the accompanying photographs illustrate, the get together enabled many old friendships to be rekindled. In a short address, Anthony Lees (1972) confirmed the enthusiasm of the Year 12 leavers—a large percentage of whom join the OCA, the success of the yearly program of reunions and the conviviality established in our ongoing sporting contacts with the School. He also emphasized the recent development of reunions being coordinated with rugby games played on Hordern, now that the home and away format has been established. He also commented on the success of the inaugural ‘Over 70s’ lunch, which is to be repeated this year, on April 28.
